Caring for a French Bulldog: AKC Puppies Ready to be Adopted

If you're thinking about bringing a little french bulldog into your house, you're in the right place. Every dog breed has their own qualities and quirks that set them apart, and we have all the tips and tricks you'll need to care for these puppies responsibly. With all the AKC puppies ready to be adopted from Royal Empire French Bulldogs, there's no better time to learn more about them!

Keep Those Folds Clean

As we all know, bulldogs are famous for their adorably wrinkly faces. Unfortunately, not every owner knows just how important it is to keep those folds clean. Frenchies are prone to infections, as their folds can collect things like food and dirt. All you have to do is wet a towel and gently clean the folds every week. Be sure to dry them afterwards to keep the area from becoming irritated.

They're Temperature Sensitive

Yes, they're sensitive to both hot and cold temperatures (more so than other breeds). Cold air can be difficult for their little respiratory systems, so be sure to give them a cuddle if you see them shivering. They're also very susceptible to heat exhaustion, so look out for excessive drooling and panting.

Be Their Lifeguard

Frenchies are great at tons of things. Swimming is not one of those things. From their flat faces to their short little legs, Frenchies are definitely not built for the water. Having your puppy in proximity to water is okay, but it's important to always be aware of where they are to ensure they're not falling in a pool or taking a dip in the ocean.

Harness That Puppy

Anyone who has ever tried to walk a puppy knows how much they like to tug. Adult dogs like to tug too if they're not trained not to when they're young. Opting for a harness over a dog collar is a reliable way of ensuring your Frenchie isn't accidentally going to give themselves a neck injury while you're trying to train them to alongside you.

Watch Their Weight

With the Frenchie's stout build and big appetite, it's easy for them to pack on the pounds. There's nothing wrong with your Frenchie being a bit chunky, but being too overweight can make it difficult for them to breathe. Just be sure that you're feeding your pup some proper nutritious portion. Outside of that, a few rounds of fetch should do the trick!
